Astria Suparak is a 22 year-old independent curator based in New York. In 1997 she developed a twice-weekly multi-media series at the
Pratt Institute School of Art and Design in Brooklyn, NY. This series featured experimental and independent films and videos, performances, live music, and guest artists. She has curated for art spaces, alternative film theatres, film festivals, and music venues including
PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Anthology Film Archives, the Knitting Factory, and the
New York Underground Film Festival. She was recently chosen as a participant for "The Village Voice" panel discussion and feature article by J. Hoberman, "Tracking the Resurgence of Experimental Film: Attack of the Mutants." Currently Ms. Suparak is working on a videotape compilation, Some Kind of Loving,
for Joanie for Jackie, a
